  • What size bed to choose for an individual and a couple?
For one, the standard size is 90×200 cm (more comfortably 100/120×200), for a couple 160×200 or 180×200 cm. Taller people will appreciate the length of 210/220 cm. Leave a passage zone of at least 60 cm around the bed.

  • Boxspring bed, upholstered bed or solid bed - which is better?
A boxspring bed offers a higher lying surface, excellent ventilation and hotel comfort (ideally with a topper). An upholstered bed has a soft headboard and a wide range of fabrics. A solid bed is extremely stable and durable - it fits perfectly into timeless interiors.

  • Bed with storage space: folding slatted bed base vs. drawers?
A folding slatted bed base (side or front) will give you the most space and easy access. Drawers are ideal if there is space around the bed. Pay attention to mattress ventilation and the load capacity of the hinges/gas struts.

  • How to choose the right slatted bed base for your mattress and frame?
Foam/latex mattresses should be placed on a slatted (easily adjustable) slatted base with a slat spacing of up to 4–5 cm. Pocket/spring mattresses can be placed on a slatted or high-quality slatted base. For frames 160/180×200 cm, two separate slatted bases 80/90×200 with a central rail are used.

  • What is the ideal height of the lying surface and load capacity?
Universal 50–55 cm; seniors will appreciate 55–60 cm (easier to get up). The height is affected by the frame legs, the thickness of the slats and the mattress. The load capacity of the bed/slats is usually 120–200 kg per bed – follow the parameters of the specific model.

  • What would you recommend for a small bedroom or studio apartment?
A bed with storage space, a narrower headboard (or a headboardless version), or a fold-out daybed. The size 140×200 is a good compromise for one person with occasional sleeping in two.
